The Fortuna Choir was founded in 1983. Our repertoire is based on classical music from the fifteenth to the twentyfirst century and a range of folk and rhythmic music. Please, visit ‘Repertoire’.
Each year we hold a number of concerts based on smaller pieces of a capella music. We have also performed a variety of concerts with professional musicians such as ’Requiem’ by M. Duruflé and Gabriel Fauré, ‘Carmina Burana’, by Carl Orff, ‘Liebesliederwalzer’ by Johannes Brahms, G.F.Händel’s ‘Messias’ and ‘Acis and Galatea’ and ‘Jesu meine Freude’ by J.S.Bach.
The Fortuna Choir has participated in competitions in Wales, Norway, Hungary, Germany and The Czech Republic.
The Fortuna Choir is based in Silkeborg in central Jutland, Denmark and has approximately 40 members. We emphasize a combination of dedicated and devoted hard work with good humour and social activity.
All of above has been achieved primarily due to the efforts of our founder Mr. Frode Lovmand, who was trained at The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, Denmark. The current conductor of the choir is Erik K. Knudsen.
